Anilite

Anilite is possibly more common than reported, but easily overlooked. It is a bluish-black copper sulphide, usually identified as a component of copper ore.

Selected Australian Occurrences:

  • Mount Gordon, Queensland.
  • As the sole supergene-enriched species at the Esperanza Mine, Gunpowder, Queensland.
  • Olympic Dam and Wallaroo Mine, South Australia.
  • Telfer Mine, Western Australia.
