Annite

KFe2+3(AlSi3O10)(OH)2

Annite is a dark-coloured mica, and is probably more common that recorded. It is difficult to distinguish visually from other dark (“biotite”) micas.

Selected Australian Occurrences:

  • Broken Hill, New South Wales.
  • Thackaringa, New South Wales.
  • In granite at the Anchor Mine, and common in many other granites in northeast Tasmania.
