Antlerite is an uncommon or overlooked copper sulphate species. It can occur as green or bluish-green masses, coatings or crystals in the oxidised zone of copper deposits. It can be difficult to distinguish visually from other secondary copper species.
Selected Australian Occurrences:
- As rare pale greenish-blue crusts or pseudomorphs in the Kintore Open Cut, Broken Hill, New South Wales.
- As platy emerald-green crystals from Mount Oxide, Queensland.
- As blocky dark green crystals from the Blockade Mine, Queensland.
- As blue or green crusts on chalcocite at the Orieco Mine, Scamander, Tasmania.
